Help Turn a Parking Lot to Paradise!
- Posted by depaveor on November 25th, 2007 filed in Depaving Projects, Fargo Garden, Local Breaking News
As part of our plan for 2008, Depave is looking to transform at least one LARGE, paved urban area into a vegetated oasis. So, we are calling on you to suggest locations in Portland where we can remove excess concrete or asphalt and replace it with plants, trees, and other living things. This can be on public or private land. Think about underutilized parking lots at churches, shopping centers, schoolyards, or perhaps some public land that is unnecessarily paved over. This project will happen during the Summer of 2008.
Please provide the location, a brief description, and contact details for the owner of the property (if you know it).

I am trying to find information on how to clean up a site that previously was paved with ashphalt. Everything we plant dies! Help!

We plan to depave most if not all of a large 42 space parking lot in inner SE Portland in 2009. We are looking for assistance with this project. See our web site for location and aerial views which show that most of this almost one acre lot is paved! We plan to turn this into an edible landscape, permaculture garden, and rainwater playground.
