Got a site that needs depaving in 2010?

Ambitious depavers seeking lonely, neglected asphalt and concrete surfaces!
This is for all you depavers, and Depave friends out there!
We are currently seeking candidate sites for Depave Summer 2010 and beyond. We want to know which empty asphalt and concrete surfaces you would like to see removed in the Portland area.
Fill us in on those areas you want converted into gardens, natural spaces, backyard bird habitats, bioswales, or whatever you can dream up. If you would like to see that asphalt go, we would like to make that happen!
In order to let us know about your sites, just click HERE and fill out our site nomination form. The form is embedded in a small window entitled “Help Us Get Rid of Some More Parking Lots.” Please fill in with as much detail as possible, but don’t worry if you must leave some areas blank. We can research and fill those details in later.
We are looking forward to another successful year full of depaving!

Hi
I am on the James John PTA & we are lookin into getting rid of some of the asphalt on the school playground.
We are in the begining phases of discussion but the principal is on board so looking for some input from you as to time lines on how long, how far out you are booked etc.
We are a Title 1 school & are looking for ways thru school projects to bring the community together.
Our playground is HUGE & is in the heart of St Johns & really needs some TLC something to make our students & community proud of.
There have been issues with vandalism in the past & I would love to see a project like this come off to let people know that the school community is investing in its neighborhood for future generations to come.
I have printed out your “how to” to bring to our next PTA meeting.
You are doing great things!!!!

You guys are fabulous! I just learned of your site link jumping this morning. Love what you are doing. Wish you could nationalize this idea. I wrote about a New Orleans org that is transforming vacant lots into urban micro farms and providing food in the food desert. Keep up the great work and thanks for the inspiration.
