The depaving season is ra ra rockin all around Portland! If you missed Our Happy Block, Capitol HillJames John, ANDDDDD Escuela Viva, don’t freak out because we’ve been working overtime to bring you maximum depaving this summer.

Our next event – at Frazer Park – on NE 52nd Ave. & Hassalo St. is happening Saturday, August 20th from 9am until 2:30pm. Join us in annihilating 10,000 square feet of asphalt to make way for Portland’s newest community garden.

This Par 4 depave will be a good days work – the surface is thick (~5+”) and the slabs are fairly hefty (that’s where teamwork comes in). Work is expected to be steady but rewarding. Don’t be deterred, we’ve got lots of killer tools and wheeled devices that could make your grandmother look like the Hulk.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Depave will provide volunteers with all the necessary tools, safety gear, and refreshments.

Volunteers are encouraged to arrive early, while it’s still cool out, but are free to show up later. Stay as long/short as your schedule allows. Due to the physical nature of asphalt removal, volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants and MUST WEAR CLOSED-TOE SHOES!

RSVP appreciated, but not necessary. Email KATE for attendance or with questions. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

ALSO – we’re having a BBQ afterwords in SE Portland that you’re all invited to. RSVP to MICHELLE if you’d like to come.
