With the help of over 30 volunteers, the asphalt removal went quickly and thanks to Maitri, we had an amazing feast to keep us fueled. The 32-unit apartment complex turned co-housing community uses a unique rental-based model and utilizes shared indoor common space and surrounding, emerging gardens. The goal of the ecovillage is to create a sustainable, eco-friendly community committed to providing a sustainable, ecological and safe living environment for all residents. Before the transformation of the building began in 2007, almost half of the property was covered with asphalt. Kailash and Depave tore up the NE section of the property to expand the existing community garden space to provide garden beds for all the residents.
