The depaving season is kickin! If you couldn’t make it to Our Happy Block, Capitol Hill, or James John you are in luck. Because… we’re not done yet, not by a long shot!

Our next event – at Escuela Viva Community School – is happening Saturday August 6th from 9am until 2pm at 1111 SE Pine St – close-in Portland. Join your fellow depavers and school parents & teachers as we tear up over 4,000 square feet of asphalt to make way for a soft-surface play area, native plants, and a lovely rain garden that will treat all of the rainwater that falls on this parking-lot-turned-playground.

This Par 3 depave will be a good days work – the surface is thin (~2.5″) but the slabs are large. Work is expected to be steady and rewarding.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Depave will provide volunteers with all the necessary tools, safety gear, and refreshments.

Volunteers are encouraged to arrive early, while it’s still cool out, but are free to show up later. Stay as long/short as your schedule allows. Due to the physical nature of asphalt removal, volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, as well as clothing appropriate for the weather.

RSVP appreciated, but not necessary. Email Eric for attendance or with questions. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
