Summer 2011 Volunteer Opportunities
Along with volunteers at the depaving events, Depave also has lots of great volunteer opportunities to help plan, organize, and put-on the depavings, as well as a number of opportunities to support our long-term goals and projects. There are more ways to volunteer with Depave than just getting dirty and sweaty, including:
-
Site Prep – Learn how to use a concrete saw cutter! This usually happens 1-2 weeks prior to the depaving event.
-
First Aid – Safety first and foremost for our events! We are looking for certified first aid volunteers who can be our go-to at events.
-
Quadrant Leaders – Have you depaved before? Come join us at our events and help lead other volunteers on depaving!
-
Trucks – Love depaving and got a truck? Depave needs trucks this summer to help transport our materials, including prybars, wheelbarrows, tents, tables, and food.
-
Site Planning Committee – Help us plan our events this summer and coordinate events for next summer and beyond!
-
Outreach – Join our outreach team and help raise awareness at events around the city and metropolitan area, including farmers markets, community resource fairs, block parties, and more!
-
Fundraising – Help us plan our fundraising events to grow Depave’s capacity and resources. We are hoping to plan a second annual fundraising event in addition to our Depave Bowling Fundraiser.
-
Site Monitoring – Do you live close to a depaved site and/or are you interested in watching how our depaved sites change over time? We are looking for Site Monitors to visit our sites periodically, take pictures, talk to site hosts and community members, and stay engaged in how our sites are progressing.
If any of these opportunities strike your fancy, please contact our volunteer coordinators, Maia and Eric.
Also be sure to check out our other volunteer opportunities here.
