Depaving Events

Depaving events take place during the summer and fall. These events are our bread and butter, the pavement removal work parties that are our namesake! Depaving events are hands-on pavement removal using a variety of hand tools and lots of passion! Crew Leaders work to make these events accessible by providing safety talks and tips and tricks for depaving. All ages can Depave!

Green Thumbs

During the winter and spring, Depave hold Green Thumbs events, which are planting, weeding, and general maintenance work parties held at past Depave project sites. Green Thumbs events help to uplift site hosts and communities by helping to care for their Depave site!

Outreach and Tabling

Depave needs to get the word out about our work! We are always looking for opportunities to table and share about our mission in the community. Please contact katherine@depave.org if you would like to help table at an event, or have an event that you would like Depave to attend!

Fundraising Events

Once a year, Depave holds an annual fundraiser event called Transformation. Transformation is an opportunity to celebrate the year’s projects while raising funds to support the work of Depave. We are always looking for folks to help staff this event or help with securing donations and doing outreach. Please contact katherine@depave.org if you would like to help out.

Become a Crew Leader!

Join Depave in improving the health and livability of our communities while gaining experience in coordinating volunteers and facilitating volunteer events. Crew Leaders assist with depaving events along with other Depave crew members.

Depave Crew Leaders are key to ensuring our fun events go smoothly and safely. Crew Leaders instruct small groups of new volunteers at pavement-removal and planting work parties and assist Project Coordinators with event set up and wrap up. Crew Leaders teach new volunteers how to remove pavement safely and work together as a team. Crew Leaders receive a Depave Crew t-shirt to wear proudly on and off the asphalt.

In order to become a Crew Leader, volunteers are expected to commit to attend one general orientation session and co-lead at least 3 depaving or planting work parties during the summer – fall depaving season.
